It’s that opportunity to take that journey of their hair back into their own hands.” Customers can start at SallyBeauty. com, where a host of products and education through its virtual DIY University platform is available, said John Goss, president of Sally Beauty. But Studio By Sally takes that information a step further. “We’re bringing it into an environment where you can get your hands dirty, you can work with [a licensed professional] in a safe environment,” Goss said. “It’s a fun experience.” The menu of services with tutorials that you can book at Studio By Sally includes color, root touch up, color removal and highlights; and styling such as blowouts using Sally Beauty’s bondbar products, curling, straightening, silk press and protective styles. You can work one-on-one with a licensed stylist or sign up for a small-group class. For either option, the in-store stylist will help you select and purchase products that are right for your hair, and then show you how to apply them. Customers can even record the session on their phone for later reference. These sessions start at $40, including product, consultation, tutorial and finishing style. “We’re wanting to share the techniques and the information,” Goss said. “But we want to make it affordable. That’s why we also supply back bar elements such as developer, bowls, brushes and gloves. And you can take your own color home with you when you’re done.” The first Studio By Sally salon is located at 2520 W. University Drive. Sally Beauty is set to open five more locations nationwide by the end of September. Rutenber says the Denton At Studio by Sally, licensed stylists can help you select products or tools and show you how to use them. location was an intentional choice. “Denton is our home; our offices are based here in Denton,” Rutenber said. “There’s so much growth in Denton and the surrounding areas of DFW, and very loyal customers.
