Five years ago, a new magazine for Denton County was born. Its mission was to highlight why it’s so great to live here. We still do that, five years later.
What do we do every day, every week, every month here? We work, eat and shop. We seek out entertainment and utilize services, from banks to beauty salons. We meet interesting people and donate our time and money to nonprofits. We decorate and update our homes, and take care of our health. We get to know more about our community – what is unique about Denton County -- as well as its history.
Our magazine features all of these aspects. Our motto is: “Your life is local; so is Denton County magazine.” In July/ August 2018, our inaugural issue, we set the patterns of this magazine and those have continued.
We have heard from a lot of you who have said things like, “I ate at the restaurant you wrote about and loved it!” and “I’m so glad you reported on the nonprofit that I love so deeply.” We are always so glad to get your feedback. (Send it to editor@ DentonCountyMagazine. com.)
In this issue, to celebrate our fifth anniversary, we went back to the restaurants we have profiled and are giving you a sort of restaurant guide, beginning on page 17. We combed through our archives for our restaurant work in the past five years to come up with our list. As we were updating each one’s information, we discovered that some of them have closed, much to our disappointment. But the vast majority are alive and cooking! Congratulations to each of these for making it through COVID, perhaps the biggest challenge to restaurants in American history.
As always, thanks for reading our magazine. We love Denton County, and we think our respect and affection shows on every page.
